A spill prevention apparatus comprises a first vessel having removable cap means for access to the interior of the vessel. A second vessel is provided in controllable fluid communication with the first vessel whereby fluid in the first vessel can be selectively drained into the second vessel prior to removal of said cap means. Means are provided for returning the drained fluid from the second vessel to the first vessel after the cap means have been replaced.
