ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and apparatus is disclosed for storing heat. Liquid heat storage medium is disposed within a reservoir and a crystallization drum is partially immersed in the medium. A secondary heat carrier liquid flows in controlled fashion through the drum to a heat containing device. Thus, the secondary heat carrier withdraws heat from the storage medium in the vicinity of the exterior of the drum. As a consequence, the cooled portion of the storage medium solidifies on the walls of the drum and, as the drum is rotated, the solidified medium is brought back into heat exchange relationship with a primary carrier liquid. The invention thus accomplishes the heat storage by way of crystallization or fusion heat.
