ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a system including method and apparatus for storing living plants or produce, and in particular, tuberous-type plants, such as potatoes and carrots in the dormant stage. The method comprises collecting the plants in a storage area and then creating a storage area vapor pressure, which at least substantially prevents a loss of moisture from the plants to the air in the storage area and additionally providing an exchange of air between the storage area and the supply of air outside the storage area to replenish oxygen consumed and to dispose of carbon dioxide given off by respiration of the plants.
