ABSTRACT A three dimensional signal is subjected to orthogonal transformation along three dimensions designated as horn- zontal, vertical and time dimensions. Sequential digital samples of the signals are organized into sequential frames consisting of Y sequential rows each of X sequential samples to achieve bidimensional transformation, and, trays- formed along the time dimension so as to render available together samples from the same positions in Z successive frames. The sequential digital samples are written into a memory structure composed of Z planes each having a capacity of ZOO samples in accordance with a first addressing mode in which each memory location in a plane is addressed in a predetermined sequence before advancing to another plane, and the samples are read from the memory structure in accordance with a second addressing mode. In this mode each memory location is addressed in each plane in turn, moving through the predetermined sequence in in- crementsof Z locations until all locations have been read, writing sequential samples from a subsequent group of Z frames into the addressed memory locations as the previous samples are read therefrom. This read/write procedure is repeatedly indefinitely using the first and second addressing modes alternately.
