A system and method supports multiple alternative graphical user interfaces in computer-moderated electronic commerce. A single database system provides information necessary for standard graphical user interface display by different display engines. The information which is supplied to generate user interface objects is formatted to support low bandwidth graphical user interfaces. In particular, formatting is selected so that low bandwidth HTML engines render a user interface similar to that displayed by higher bandwidth engines.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif permettant la prise en charge de multiples variantes d'interfaces graphiques utilisateur pour le commerce électronique par ordinateur. Un système de base de données unique fournit l'information nécessaire à l'affichage d'une interface utilisateur graphique conventionnelle par différents moteurs d'affichage. L'information fournie pour générer des objets d'interface utilisateur est formatée de manière à être compatible avec des interfaces utilisateur graphiques à faible largeur de bande. Le formatage est sélectionnée plus particulièrement de manière que les moteurs HTML à faible largeur de bande puissent afficher une interface utilisateur semblable à celle affichée par des moteurs à largeur de bande plus importante.
