The present invention provides a method for measuring the surface profile of a sample (8), the method including directing light from a light source (2) through a beam splitter (6) to form two split beams, directing the split beams onto a sample surface (8) and a reference surface (10) respectively, reflecting the split beams back through the beam splitter (6); and directing the split beams towards an imaging system (12). The invention also provides a surface profiling apparatus for measuring the surface profile of a sample (8), the apparatus including a light source (2) for generating a source beam, beam splitting means (6) positioned in the path of the source beam for splitting the source beam into split beams, a reference surface (10), a sample surface allowing the split beams to traverse separate paths and return to the beam splitting means (6), reference surface positioning means (14) for positioning the reference surface, and viewing means (12) for imaging combined beams. The invention also provides an apparatus for calibrating a laser for the ablation of a material including the surface profiling apparatus of the invention.
L'invention concerne un procédé de mesure du profil superficiel d'un échantillon (8), qui consiste à diriger un faisceau lumineux provenant d'une source lumineuse (2), à travers un diviseur de faisceau (6) de sorte que deux faisceaux divisés soient formés, à diriger respectivement lesdits faisceaux sur une surface échantillon (8) et une surface de référence (10), à renvoyer les faisceaux divisés à travers le diviseur de faisceau (6); et à diriger les faisceaux divisés vers un système d'imagerie (12). L'invention concerne également un appareil de profilage superficiel pour la mesure du profil superficiel d'un échantillon (8), comportant une source lumineuse (2) pour générer un faisceau source, un moyen de division de faisceau (6) placé sur le trajet du faisceau source, pour diviser ce dernier en faisceaux divisés, une surface de référence (10), une surface échantillon permettant aux faisceaux divisés de traverser des trajets séparés et d'être renvoyés au moyen de division de faisceau (6), un moyen de positionnement de surface de référence (14) pour positionner la surface de référence, et un moyen de projection (12) pour l'imagerie de faisceaux combinés. L'invention porte également sur un appareil d'étalonnage d'un laser pour l'ablation d'une substance, comprenant l'appareil de profilage superficiel de l'invention.
