In developing a receiver used for both 8-VSB system and 16-VSB system based upon the fact that there are so many common modulation parts which are commonly operated between the two systems, an operation mode is automatically switched by using the autocorrelation for operation modes of the received data without manual operation, and signals for controlling the entire system can be outputted, thereby recalizing efficiency and economy in operating the HDTV receiver.
