A frame support holds an extendable and retractable cylinder on which a tile engaging device is mounted. A vibrator is combined with the tile engaging device. In operation, when a tile is to be tested for adhesion on its base and expected life-span the frame support is placed on a tile surface, the cylinder is extended with the tile engaging device against a selected tile. When the tile is engaged, vibration thereto is initiated for a predetermined time and at a predetermined rate. The cylinder is retracted and the force used to pull the tile is an indication of the strength of the bond between the tile and the adhesive and between the substrate and the adhesive, so that the life-span of the laid tile can be determined based on the measured force which is used to pull the tile.

Un bâti support retient un cylindre extensible et rétractable sur lequel est monté un dispositif de mise en prise sur un carreau de revêtement. Un vibrateur est associé au dispositif de mise en prise sur un carreau. En service, quand on veut vérifier l'adhérence sur sa base et la durée de vie prévue d'un carreau, on place le bâti support à la surface d'un carreau et on met le cylindre en extension avec le dispositif de mise en prise posé contre un carreau choisi. Quand le carreau est mis en prise, on commence à y exercer la vibration pour une période prédéterminée à un rythme prédéterminé. On rétracte le cylindre et la force utilisée pour tirer le carreau donne une indication de la force d'adhérence entre le carreau et l'adhésif et entre le support et l'adhésif, de sorte qu'on peut déterminer la durée de vie du carreau posé d'après la force mesurée qu'on utilise pour arracher le carreau.
