A thawing and freezing prevention system for pipes comprising a heating conduit locatable contiguous to a fluid carrying pipe, a heatable fluid contained within the heating conduit, an explosion proof heater, a heat exchanger and a fluid actuated pump, whereby the heatable fluid is heated by means of the explosion proof heater that is thermally coupled to the heat exchanger, and whereby the heatable fluid is pumped through the heating conduit using the fluid actuated pump, thereby causing the fluid carrying pipe to be heated.
