There is provided and apparatus and method for electrostatically applying a powder material to substrates. The apparatus includes a plurality of platens, each platen being arranged to hold a plurality of substrates, a conveyor for conveying the platens along a path and an applicator for applying the powder material to the substrates. The method includes the steps of placing the substrates on platens, each platen holding a plurality of substrates, conveying the platens in series along a path and electrostatically applying a powder material to the substrates held on the platens. There is also provided a platen for holding a plurality of substrates to which powder material is to be electrostatically applied, the platen comprising a platen base having a plurality of supports for supporting a plurality of substrates and an electrically conducting platen shield located on the platen base and having a plurality of holes arranged to align with the plurality of supports on the platen base.
La présente invention a trait à un appareil et un procédé pour l'application électrostatique d'un matériau en poudre à des substrats. L'appareil comporte une pluralité de plaques, chaque plaque étant agencée à contenir une pluralité de substrats, une bande transporteuse pour le transport des plaques selon un trajet et un applicateur pour l'application du matériau en poudre aux substrats. Le procédé comprend les étapes suivantes : le placement des substrats sur les plaques, chaque plaque contenant une pluralité de substrats, le transport des plaques en série selon un trajet et l'application électrostatique d'un matériau en poudre aux substrats portés sur les plaques. Il est également prévu une plaque pour le maintien d'une pluralité de substrats auxquels le matériau en poudre est destiné à être appliqué, la plaque comportant une base de plaque comprenant une pluralité de supports pour le support d'une pluralité de substrats et un blindage de plaque conducteur d'électricité disposé sur la base de plaque et présentant une pluralité de trous agencés à être alignés avec la pluralité de supports sur la base de plaque.
