A method is provided for continuously and automatically producing contactless or regular smart cards, such as identity cards, passes and the like, bearing personalizing, and optionally non-personalizing, graphic matter, including text and, generally, identifying photographs. A base layer (11) comprising the electronic components (13, 14) is provided, is laminated to two intermediate layers (16, 17) to form a core, and the core is laminated to two cover sheets (18, 19). The card can be made directly in a continuous process, in which case the intermediate layers (16, 17) carry the previously printed, personalizing graphic matter; or a pouch can be made, in which core and cover sheets (18, 19) are connected along a side only, and be transformed into a card by transfer printing personalizing matter on the cover sheets (18, 19) and fully laminating them to the core. An apparatus for continuously and automatically carrying out the method is also provided. Smart cards having a longer life are thus obtained in a more productive and economical way.
L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication automatique et en continu de cartes sans contact et de cartes à puce classiques telles que cartes d'identité, laisser-passer, et analogues. sur lesquelles figurent des mentions graphiques personnalisées - ou non personnalisées en option - avec texte et, en général, photographie d'identité. La carte se compose d'une couche de base (11) qui renferme des composants électroniques (13, 14) et qui est laminée entre deux couches intermédiaires (16, 17) avec lesquelles elles forment la carte centrale, laquelle est laminée entre deux feuilles extérieures (18, 19). On peut soit fabriquer la carte directement en continu, auquel cas les couches intermédiaires (16, 17) portent des mentions graphiques personnalisées pré-imprimées, soit confectionner un étui sans lequel la carte centrale et les feuilles de couverture (18, 19) sont fixées par un côté seulement et qui est transformé en carte après impression par transfert des données personnalisées figurant sur les feuilles de couverture (18, 19) qui sont intégralement laminées sur la carte centrale. L'invention concerne également un appareil fonctionnant en continu et automatiquement selon ce procédé et qui permet d'obtenir des cartes à puce de façon plus productive et plus économique.
