A method for the continuous quality control of a wire of shape memory alloy comprises: a) supplying the wire through a plurality of controlled temperature areas suitable for reproducing a temperature profile encompassing the characteristic transition temperatures of the material the wire is made of; b) measuring the elongation of the wire at each area at controlled temperature; c) using the data of temperature and elongation to obtain by points the hysteresis curve of the material in the temperature-elongation diagram. Preferably the wire is supplied at a known velocity and with a constant tension, and the measurement of the elongation is obtained by measuring the velocity of the wire. An apparatus carrying out the method comprises supplying units (B, B', V, V') suitable for adjusting the tension and the supplying velocity of the wire (F) through a series of thermostatic chambers (T) containing idle pulleys (M) whereon the wire (F} is wound without sliding, whose rotational velocity can be measured for example by high-definition encoders.
L'invention concerne un procédé pour le contrôle qualité continu d'un câble en alliage à mémoire de forme. Ce procédé consiste : a) à amener le câble dans une pluralité de zones à température régulée pour reproduire un profil de température déterminant les températures de transition caractéristiques du matériau composant le câble ; b) à mesurer l'allongement du câble dans chaque zone à température régulée ; c) et à utiliser les données de température et d'allongement pour obtenir par points une courbe d'hystérésis du matériau dans le diagramme température-allongement. De préférence, le câble est approvisionné à une vitesse connue et à une tension constante, et la mesure de l'allongement est obtenue par mesure de la vitesse du câble. L'invention concerne également un appareil mettant en oeuvre ledit procédé, qui comprend des unités d'approvisionnement (B, B', V, V') conçues pour ajuster la tension et la vitesse d'approvisionnement du câble (F) dans une série de chambres thermostatiques (T) contenant des poulies folles (M) sur lesquelles le câble (F) est monté sans glissement, la vitesse de rotation dudit câble pouvant être mesurée par exemple par des encodeurs haute définition.
