ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for the preparation of a drilling mud wherein the solid and liquid phases of the drilling mud are mixed in a vessel to obtain a homogeneous suspension. After the mixing the drilling mud is passed under pressure through aper- tures provided in a stirring member of a piston type, the aper- tures being of a diameter which is greater than maximum size of an individual solid phase particle but smaller than the diameter of aggregates of the particles, to prepare dispersed drilling mud.
