A method for producing a metal powder which comprises effecting a plasma discharge in water between an electrode of an elemental metal and a counter electrode to generate a metal ion vapor and contacting the metal ion vapor with water to thereby convert the metal ion vapor to a powder; and an apparatus for producing a metal powder which comprises a power source for high voltage high current discharge, a device for supplying an electrode of a metal such as titanium, a high voltage discharge device having an electrode of a metal such as titanium and a counter electrode, a device for vibrating or sliding anelectrode, a water tank, a water inlet, an outlet and a discharge pump for discharging a dispersion of a metal such as titanium, and a device for separating and recovering a powder of a metal such as titanium. The method and the apparatus allows the production of a metal powder having high purity and being uniform in the shape and size of particles, at a low cost.
L'invention concerne un procédé de production de poudre métallique qui consiste à effectuer une décharge de plasma dans de l'eau entre une électrode d'un métal élémentaire et une contre-électrode en vue de générer une vapeur d'ion métallique et à mettre celle-ci en contact avec de l'eau pour la transformer en poudre. L'invention concerne en outre un appareil conçu pour produire une poudre métallique qui comporte une source d'alimentation conçue pour une décharge à courant élevé à haute tension, un dispositif destiné à alimenter une électrode d'un métal tel que le titane et une contre-électrode, un dispositif faisant vibrer ou coulisser une électrode, un réservoir d'eau, une admission d'eau, une sortie et une pompe de décharge permettant de décharger une dispersion d'un métal tel que le titane, et un dispositif destiné à séparer et à récupérer la poudre d'un métal tel que le titane. Le procédé et l'appareil permettent de produire à peu de frais une poudre métallique de grande pureté dont les particules sont uniformes au niveau de la forme et de la taille.
