An ultrasonic cleaning apparatus for removing machining soil from the outside and inside walls of a wire-drawing die. The ultrasonic cleaning apparatus is used with an ultrasonic generator and a source of cleaning liquid. The apparatus has a cleaning head with a chamber, a high frequency focused ultrasonic transducer fitted into the chamber, a liquid inlet port providing fluid communication between the source of cleaning liquid and the chamber and an outlet port axially aligned with an axis of the ultrasonic transducer operative to emit a jet of cavitating liquid towards a focal point outside of the chamber.
