The invention is concerned with clarifying contaminated liquids and, in one embodiment, contaminated liquid is continuously supplied (15) to a first vessel (11), a first treatment material (34) is intimately mixed (33) into the contaminated liquid in the first vessel, the contaminated liquid/first treatment mixture is passed to a second vessel (26) and a second treatment material (36) is added to the contaminated liquid and first material mixture and intimately mixed therewith (35). The first treatment material preferably comprises one or more compound of the group including soluble magnesium salts, ferrous salts, manganous compounds and cuprous compounds and the second material is an alkali intented to reduce the pH of the final mixture. After the second treatment material has been added the impurities separated out from the final mixture are extracted from one outlet from the second vessel and clarified liquid is discharged from another outlet of the second vessel.
L'invention concerne la clarification de liquides contaminés et, dans un mode de réalisation décrit, le liquide contaminé est amené (15) en continu dans une première cuve (11) dans laquelle une première matière de traitement (34) est intimement mélangé (33) au liquide contaminé, le mélange liquide contaminé/première matièrede traitement est amené dans un seconde cuve (26), et une seconde matière de traitement (36) est ajoutée au mélange liquide contaminé/première matière de traitement et est intimement mélangée à celui-ci (35). La première matière de traitement comprend de préférence un ou plusieurs composés du groupe renfermant des sels de magnésium solubles, des sels ferreux, des composés de manganèse et des composés de cuivre, et la seconde matière est une cuve alcaline destinée à réduire le pH du mélange final. Après avoir ajouté la seconde matière de traitement, les impuretés séparées du mélange final sont extraites par une sortie de la seconde cuve, et le liquide clarifié est évacué par une autre sortie de la seconde cuve.
