An apparatus and method are described for treating a flowing water stream with a chemical treatment agent. In particular, the apparatus includes a hopper for containing the chemical treatment agent, an auger for discharging the chemical treatment agent from the hopper into the flowing water stream, and a water wheel which provides an adjustable amount of mechanical energy for driving the auger to discharge the chemical agent into the flowing water stream at a rate proportional to the amount of mechanical energy provided by the water wheel. The apparatus is relatively light in weight with minimal dimensions to provide portability for locating the apparatus in remote locations. Further, the apparatus requires minimal human supervision because it uses the flowing water stream as an energy source and is mechanically simple.
Description d'un appareil et d'une méthode pour le traitement de cours d'eau au moyen d'un agent de traitement chimique. Plus précisément, l'appareil est constitué d'une trémie contenant l'agent de traitement chimique, d'une vrille permettant de libérer l'agent de traitement chimique du trémie dans le cours d'eau, ainsi que d'une roue à aubes fournissant une quantité variable d'énergie mécanique pour permettre à la vrille de libérer l'agent chimique dans le cours d'eau à une cadence proportionnelle à la quantité d'énergie mécanique fournie par la roue à aubes. L'appareil est d'un poids assez léger et de dimension minimale, afin de permettre sa portabilité dans des lieux éloignés. De plus, l'appareil nécessite très peu de supervision humaine parce qu'il utilise le cours d'eau comme source d'énergie, et que son mécanisme est simple.
