- 1 - Abstract The invention relates to a method and to apparatus for two-stage crushing of material for grinding, in which the rolls of the roll mill forming the first grinding stage are driven at a constant speed, and of the grit resulting from the sifting of the material discharged from the subsequent second mill only a proportion is returned to the roll mill such that an almost constant filling level is maintained in the delivery shaft of the roll mill even when the quantity of fresh material changes.
