In a printing method, an electrically encoded image (34) to be transferred to a printing substrate during a printing process, is provided in an electronic memory. A flexible carrier sheet is attached under tension to a cutting cylinder identical in dimensions to a blanket (12), or printing cylinder of a printing machine. The cutting cylinder may be a blanket (18), or printing cylinder in a printing machine, or a dedicated support cylinder in a stand alone cutting assembly. The carrier sheet is cut automatically in accordance with the electrically encoded image after attachment of the carrier sheet to the cutting cylinder. Subsequently, sections (48) of the carrier sheet (18) are removed therefrom along cut lines made in the carrier sheet during the cutting thereof.

Procédé d'imprimerie consistant à entrer dans une mémoire électronique une image (34) codée électriquement à transférer à un substrat d'imprimerie pendant une opération d'imprimerie. On fixe une feuille souple de support sous tension à un cylindre coupant dont les dimensions sont identiques à un blanchet (12), ou cylindre d'imprimerie de machine d'imprimerie. Ce cylindre coupant peut être un blanchet (18), ou cylindre d'imprimerie de machine d'imprimerie, ou un cylindre de support spécialisé dans un ensemble coupant autonome. La feuille de support est coupée automatiquement d'après l'image codée électriquement après fixation de ladite feuille de support au cylindre coupant. On enlève ensuite des sections (48) de la feuille de support (18) depuis ladite feuille le long de lignes de coupe pratiquées dans ladite feuille de support pendant la coupe de cette dernière.
