A process and apparatus by which crushed and screened blast furnace slag (80) can be added to the feedstock materials (76) fed into the feed-end of a rotary cement kiln to form cement clinkers (82). The blast furnace slag is crushed and screened to provide blast furnace slag particles having particles with a size of up to a maximum diameter of substantially 2" or less. The apparatus (10) includes a rotary kiln (12) supported by flanges (14) that rotate with the kiln. The kiln has a feed end (16) and a burning zone (18). A fuel source (20) creates a flame (22) in the heat end of the rotary kiln. A variable speed conveyer belt (24) carries feedstock material to the kiln and the blast furnace slag (44) is carried by a conveying device (46) to the feedstock material (48) that is being fed through the dust hopper (56) at the feed end of the kiln.
Procédé et appareil permettant d'ajouter du laitier de haut fourneau (80) broyé et passé au crible à des matériaux de départ (76) introduits par l'extrémité d'alimentation d'un four à ciment rotatif pour former des clinkers (82). On broie et on passe au crible le laitier de haut fourneau afin d'obtenir des particules de laitier dont le diamètre ne dépasse pas 2 pouces environ. L'appareil (10) comprend un four rotatif (12) soutenu par des colliers (14) qui tournent avec le four. Celui-ci présente une extrémité d'alimentation (16) et une zone de cuisson (18). Une source de combustible (20) produit une flamme (22) dans l'extrémité soumise à la chaleur du four rotatif. Une bande transporteuse (24) à vitesse variable transporte le matériau de départ jusqu'au four, et le laitier (44) est conduit par un transporteur (46) vers le matériau de départ (48) qui est introduit par la trémie à poussières (56) située à l'extrémité d'alimentation du four.
