ABSTRACT A method and apparatus for heating a residue gas prior to dispersal to the atmosphere are provided. A gas turbine engine is modified so as to accept the residue gas as a separate cooling stream in the gas turbine's combustor. The residue gas is used in place of excess compressed air to cool the products of combustion to a temperature suitable for use in the turbine. In this manner the residue gas is heated for dispersal to the atmos- phere. Additionally, the overall thermal efficiency of the gas turbine may be increased.
