The operation conditions in a hydraulic system is to a high extent influenced if the condition of the hydraulic fluid is improved and if its content of air and water can be reduced. This patent application relates to a method concerning these facts. This is made possible partly by the fact that the active, working fluid in the system is kept separated from the passive fluid in the hydraulic tank, partly that the active oil in its circulation in the hydraulic system passes a hydraulically operated purification apparatus, purifying the fluid in a comprehensive way. Here air and water are separated by vacuum treatment and the apparatus is also provided with a filter absorbing particles.
