An apparatus and a method for performing first and second imaging processes contemporaneously, in particular where one of the processes is detecting fires based on images of the flames. The apparatus includes an image sensor for producing a video image, a frame grabber for capturing first frames and second frames, a processor for processing the data within the frames, and a output device. The apparatus may also include an adjustment mechanism for adjusting the image settings of the image sensor between settings suitable for flame imaging and non-flame imaging, and a control mechanism for controlling the image settings of the image sensor. In the method at least to first frames are obtained, and a plurality of second frames are obtained. The first and second frames are used for first and second processes. The first and second processes are contemporaneous, so that they are carried out within the same time period without interfering with one another. When the first process is flame detection, individual pairs of pixels having a property such as intensity that meets a first threshold are identified within the first frames, and are assembled into blobs. Additional properties of the pixel pairs and the blobs overall are evaluated in relation with additional thresholds. Blobs or pixels that do not meet the thresholds are excluded. Any blobs remaining after all evaluations are considered fires.
L'invention porte sur un appareil et sur un procédé de réalisation de premier et second processus d'imagerie, l'un de ces processus détectant des incendies à partir d'images de flammes. L'appareil comprend un capteur d'image destiné à générer une image vidéo, un capteur de page-écran destiné à saisir des premières images et des secondes images, un processeur permettant de traiter les données des images et un dispositif de sortie. L'appareil peut également comprendre un mécanisme de réglage permettant de régler les paramètres du capteur d'image entre des paramètres appropriés pour des images avec flammes et des images sans flammes, et un mécanisme de commande permettant de commander les paramètres du capteur d'image. Selon ce procédé, au moins deux premières images sont générées, ainsi qu'une pluralité de secondes images. Les première et seconde images sont utilisées pour des premier et second processus qui sont des processus contemporains de sorte qu'ils soient réalisés dans la même période sans interférer avec un autre. Lorsque le premier processus est la détection de flammes, des paires individuelles de pixels possédant une propriété telle que l'intensité qui correspond à un premier seuil sont identifiées dans les premières images et sont assemblées sous forme de nuées. Des propriétés additionnelles de paires de pixels et de nuées sont évaluées globalement par rapport à des seuils additionnels. Les nuées ou pixels qui ne correspondent pas aux seuils sont exclus. Toutes nuées ou taches restant après toutes les évaluations sont considérées comme étant des incendies.
