Embodiments of the invention are concerned with a method of, and apparatus for, identifying types of network behaviour for use in identifying aberrant network behaviour. In particular, embodiments are concerned with identifying email viruses. The method comprises the steps of: collecting data representative of network traffic that has travelled over a network; training a classification means to recognise a plurality of network behaviour types from the collected data; and for unseen data travelling over the network, classifying the unseen data into one of the defined network behaviour types.
Des réalisations de l'invention concernent un procédé et un appareil destinés à identifier des types de comportement de réseau utilisés afin d'identifier un comportement de réseau aberrant. En particulier, des réalisations concernent l'identification de virus de courrier électronique. Le procédé consiste à collecter des données, représentatives d'un trafic de réseau, qui ont voyagé sur le réseau, à réaliser l'apprentissage d'un moyen de classement destiné à reconnaître plusieurs types de comportement de réseau à partir des données collectées et, pour des données non aperçues, voyageant sur le réseau, à classer ces données non aperçues en l'un des types de comportement de réseau définis.
