Abstract of the Disclosure Method and apparatus to prepare extruded particles. Extruded particles (H), especially as a precursor for pharma- ceutical pellets are prepared by extruding a doughy mass in the form of a strand (G) into a gas stream (E) in which it is predried and also broken by the gas steam (E). A lance (40) is employed for the extrusion which extends through a treatment chamber (12) and carries extruder nozzles (80) opening trans- versely of the general flow of gas (E). A pressure gas nozzle (96) fed intermittently with pressurized air is directed to the opening range of each extruder nozzle (80).
