A method and apparatus for No-TX mode for a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and Node B that suspends the transmission of power control updates and associated signaling over dedicated uplink and downlink channels. Triggers and signals between the WTRU and Node B activate and disable No-TX mode. A radio link is re-established to resume data transmission when No-TX mode is disabled, and data may also be transmitted during defined transmission opportunities while in No-TX mode.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil pour un mode non-TX pour une unité d'émission/réception sans fil (WTRU) et un nud B qui suspend la transmission de mise à jour de commande de puissance et la signalisation associée sur des canaux liaison montante et de liaison descendante dédiés. Des déclencheurs et des signaux entre les WTRU et le nud B activent et désactivent le mode non-TX. Une liaison radio est rétablie pour reprendre la transmission des données lorsque le mode non-TX est désactivé, et les données peuvent également être transmises pendant des possibilités de transmission définies tout en étant dans le mode non-TXK.
