An improved method and apparatus are provided to replace a starter solenoid unit of a starter motor assembly, the original solenoid unit mounted into an open-ended lever housing cap by a plurality of crimps. The method and apparatus include drilling into the crimps to form substantially circular holes in the lever housing cap proximate the open end which align with outwardly open threaded ports in the replacement starter solenoid. A plurality of screws are then inserted through the lever housing cap and fastened into the threaded ports of the replacement solenoid. A plurality of clamp washers may also be used.
Méthode et appareil améliorés pour remplacer un solénoïde de démarrage d'un ensemble démarreur; le solénoïde d'origine est monté dans un capot de logement de levier à extrémité ouverte au moyen d'un certain nombre de sertissures. La méthode consiste à percer les sertissures de façon à former dans le capot du logement de levier, à proximité de l'extrémité ouverte, des trous essentiellement circulaires qui s'alignent sur les orifices taraudés du solénoïde de rechange. Le nombre approprié de vis sont ensuite insérées dans ces trous et vissées dans les orifices taraudés du solénoïde de rechange. On peut également utiliser le nombre voulu de rondelles-freins.
