A method of setting up a session between a client terminal and a media supply system in order to transport a unicast media stream from the media supply system to the client terminal over an intervening IP network, the media supply system implementing the Real Time Streaming Protocol. The method comprises conducting a negotiation between the client terminal and the media supply system over an IP Multimedia Subsystem network in order to identify to the IP Multimedia Subsystem network the source and destination IP addresses and port numbers for the media stream, and subsequently sending Real Time Streaming Protocol messages from the client terminal to the media supply system in order to control the playout of media from the media supply system.

L'invention concerne un procédé de configuration d'une session entre un terminal client et un système de distribution multimédia afin de transporter un flux multimédia de monodiffusion du système de distribution multimédia au terminal client sur un réseau IP intervenant, le système de distribution multimédia mettant en AEuvre le protocole de transmission multimédia en continu en temps réel. Le procédé comprend la réalisation d'une négociation entre le terminal client et le système de distribution multimédia sur un réseau de sous-systèmes multimédia IP afin d'identifier sur le réseau de sous-systèmes multimédia IP les adresses IP de source et de destinataire et les numéros de port pour le flux multimédia, et l'envoi ultérieur de messages de protocole de transmission multimédia en continu en temps réel du terminal client au système de distribution multimédia afin de commander la sortie du multimédia depuis le système de distribution multimédia.
