A method for calendering paper or board in the manufacture of coated grades of paper or board. According to the method, at least one of the surfaces of an uncoated base material web is calendered, at least one layer of coating mix being applied onto said surface, and at least the coated surface of the base web is calendered again. The uncoated surface of the base web is calendered by means of a shoe calender having a nip length of at least 50 mm, and the coated surface of the base web is calendered by means of a calender having a nip length of 50 mm at the most.
L'invention concerne un procédé de calandrage de papier ou de carton dans la fabrication de papier ou de carton du type couché. Selon le procédé, au moins une des surfaces d'une bande de matière non couchée est calandrée, au moins une couche de mélange de couchage est appliquée sur ladite surface, et au moins la surface couchée de la bande de base est calandrée une nouvelle fois. La surface non couchée de la bande de base est calandrée au moyen d'une calandre à sabot présentant une ligne de contact d'au moins 50 mm, et la surface couchée de la bande de base est calandrée au moyen d'une calandre possédant une ligne de contact d'au plus 50 mm.
