The invention relates to a method of and an arrangement for damping a wall movement. In the invention, the strength of an electric field between a surface of the wall and an air-permeable mass plate (3) parallel with the surface is controlled to provide a force opposite to the wall-moving force. A sound wave, for instance, may cause a force moving a wall back and forth, which force is cancelled by the opposite force by means of the method and arrangement of the invention, whereby the movement applied to the wall by the sound wave can be stopped.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif permettant d'atténuer le déplacement d'une paroi. Selon l'invention, la force d'un champ électrique entre une surface de la paroi et une plaque de masse perméable à l'air (3), parallèle à la surface, est commandée de façon à produire une force opposée à la force qui déplace le mur. Une onde sonore, par exemple, peut produire une force faisant reculer et avancer un mur. Ladite force est annulée par la force opposée au moyen du procédé et du dispositif de l'invention, qui permettent d'arrêter le déplacement de la paroi provoqué par l'onde sonore.
