An improved arrangement and method of drying fire hoses is disclosed which reduces the time and energy required to dry fire hoses. According to one aspect of the invention, a plug is forced through the hoses prior to drying to strip water from the interior of the hose. According to a different aspect of the invention, a closed loop drying arrangement is used where moist warm air which has passed over the hoses being dried is reconditioned to remove the water at a dehumidifying station, followed by reheating for further drying of the hoses. This closed loop system has improved the efficiency in drying hoses and produced a system which is not seriously affected by changing ambient conditions.

La présente invention a pour objet une installation ainsi qu'une méthode pour le séchage de boyaux d'incendie, dont l'utilisation permet de réduire le temps et l'énergie consacrés au séchage des boyaux d'incendie. Un des aspects de l'invention concerne l'introduction et le passage forcé d'un racleur le long du tuyau d'incendie afin de chasser l'eau de l'intérieur du tuyau. Un autre aspect de l'invention concerne une installation de séchage en circuit fermé dans laquelle l'air chaud chargé d'humidité circulant au-dessus des tuyaux en cours de séchage est acheminé vers un poste de déshumidification avant d'être réchauffé à nouveau pour un séchage plus poussé. Le système de séchage en circuit fermé décrit dans les présentes se caractérise par l'efficacité accrue des opérations de séchage et par la réduction des effets résultant des changements de conditions ambiantes.
