The instant invention comprises a method and arrangement for station keeping a geostationary satellite cluster, employing an optical intersatellite connection constituted of a number of satellites (14F to 14K), which are located in a common, limited area, for example 0.1, on the geostationary orbit. In this case the position of the satellite cluster is determined by the temporarily selected master satellite (14J), which receives its correction commands via a ground station (17) and which sees to it that such corrections are simultaneously performed by the remaining satellites of the cluster.

La présente invention est constituée par une méthode et un dispositif servant à maintenir en position un groupe de satellites géostationnaires au moyen d'une connexion optique entre certains des satellites (14F à 14K), ceux-ci étant localisés dans une zone restreinte de l'orbite géostationnaire, 0,1 par exemple. Dans ce cas la position du groupe de satellites est déterminée par un satellite pilote sélectionné temporairement (14J); celui-ci reçoit des instructions de correction d'une station terrienne (17) et s'assure que ces corrections sont effectuées simultanément par les autres satellites du groupe.
