Method and arrangement for measuring the position of the end shields of a paper, pulp, or board reel relative to the grab (1, 2) transporting it, when an end shield is attached to the grab. (1, 2). During measurement, a detector (7) is moved along such a curve of a circle that can be assumed to intersect the curve of the circle described by the edge of the object. The angular position of the detector (7) is measured using the curve of the circle over which it travels and the intersection points (xl, zl; x2, z2) of the curve travelled by the detector (7) and the edge of the object are detected. The location of the centre point (x0, z0) of the object is calculated on the basis of a) the radius of the circle travelled by the detector and the location (xm, zm) of the centre point of the circle, b) the location (xt, zt) of the tool point, c) the assumed radius of the object, and d) the locations (xl, zl; x2 z2) of the detected intersection points. Finally, the position of the centre point (x0, z0) of the object in the set of co-ordinates of the grab is calculated.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un système pour la mesure de la position des protections d'extrémité sur une bobine de papier, pâte ou carton par rapport au dispositif de préhension (1,2) qui la transporte, lorsqu'une protection d'extrémité est fixée au dispositif (1,2). Durant la mesure, un détecteur (7) se déplace le long d'un arc de cercle dont on suppose qu'il coupe l'arc de cercle décrit par la bordure de l'objet. La position angulaire du détecteur (7) est mesurée par le biais de l'arc de cercle sur lequel le détecteur se déplace, et les points d'intersection (x1, z1 ; x2, z2) de l'arc décrit par le détecteur (7) et de la bordure de l'objet sont détectés. On détermine l'emplacement du point central (x0, z0) de l'objet d'après: a) le rayon du cercle décrit par le détecteur et l'emplacement (xm, zm) du point central du cercle, b) l'emplacement (xt, zt) du point d'outil, c) le rayon supposé de l'objet, et d) l'emplacement (x1, z1 ; x2, z2) des points d'intersection détectés. Enfin, on détermine la position du point central (x0, z0) de l'objet dans la série de coordonnées du dispositif de préhension.
