An improved method and arrangement for calculating the fluid phase fractions of gas, oil and water and oil-water emulsion in a fluid stream flowing from an oil well which includes separating out the majority of gas from the well stream and repeatedly trapping a sample of the primarily resultant liquid well stream in a vertically disposed sampling chamber (34). The well stream sample is held therein to permit separation of the phase fractions to the maximum extent possible within a reasonable time. A number of measurements are taken of the capacitance at a plurality of discrete vertically-spaced locations (68) within the fluid-filled sampling chamber (34). The capacitance measurements made of with capacitance measuring circuitry (55) relate directly to the varying permitivity of the phase fractions of various liquids contained therein which may be gas, oil, and water and an oil- water emulsion in the liquid well stream sample. The measurements are received/processed by an electrical interface (40) and computer (42) to provide precise information on such phase fractions and emulsion interfaces. A number of different embodiments are disclosed.
Procédé perfectionné et dispositif associé de détermination des fractions en phase fluide du gaz, du pétrole, de l'eau ou d'émulsions pétrole/eau présents dans le courant fluide sortant d'un puits de pétrole. Ledit procédé consiste à extraire la majeure partie du gaz du fluide et à prélever, à plusieurs reprises, un échantillon du premier courant obtenu, dans une chambre d'échantillonnage verticale (34) où il est maintenu pendant un temps raisonnable pour permettre de séparer les fractions des différentes phases. On procède à une série de mesures de capacité en différentes zones (68), séparées verticalement, de la chambre (34). Les mesures de capacité, qui sont réalisées au moyen d'un circuit de mesure de capacité (55) correspondent directement aux variations de permittivité des fractions de différents fluides contenus dans ladite chambre, qui peuvent être du gaz, du pétrole, de l'eau ou une émulsion pétrole/eau présents dans l'échantillon de courant fluide du puits. Les mesures sont ensuite reçues/traitées par une interface électrique (40) et un ordinateur (42) pour donner des indications précises sur lesdites fractions et interfaces d'émulsion. Sont également décrits différents modes de réalisation.
