ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An arrangement for carrying out reactions involving solids, liquids and gas as three phases requiring intimate contact between the three phases. It comprises: a single-stage reactor A in the form of two concentric tubes C and D, one acting as a central stack and the other as a wall of reactor A, widening out towards the top; a gas diffuser D at the bottom of stack C, enabling gas to be injected into the liquid column above the diffuser, while a vesicle remover H is located in the upper part of reactor A; pipes G, H and N for deeding in the re- agents, and a pipe F for forcing back the gaseous phase at the top of reactor A; a connection K inclined by over 45° to an extension of the horizontal and establishing direct com- munication between the bottom of reactor A and a decanting chamber B; and a vertical degassing tube J located between connection K and decanting chamber B. Application of this arrangement to the reaction be- tween finely divided aluminum, hydrogen and at least on ole- fin having 2 to 30 carbon atoms, at a temperature of from 100° to 200° and a pressure of 30 to 200 bars, in a perfectly homogeneous medium for the preparation ofalkylaluminums.
