-21- For synchronization of base stations (BS1, BS2), in particular for the purpose of a seamless handover, time information (ZI1, ZI2) is transmitted - possibly on request - to the base stations (BS1, BS2) from a time information server (VE) via a local area network (LAN). Since base stations (BS1, BS2) which are involved in a seamless handover are generally adjacent, and the respective propagation times and/or propagation time fluctuations of time information (ZI1, ZI2) differ only slightly in the local area network (LAN) between the time information server (VE) and the base station when the base stations are adjacent, the invention allows high accurate synchronization to be achieved, especially for a seamless handover.
