The present invention relates to fraud prevention and authentication of a device to a user. The method of authenticating a personal device (210) according to the invention comprises a set up sequence (305-310), wherein at least a first preferred output format is selected by the user, and a device configuration verification sequence (315-355). In the device configuration verification sequence a checksum is calculated and converted to a user friendly output format based on the user selected preferred output format. In addition the checksum may be calculated based on variable, and user selectable, keying material. The personal device (210), after being authenticated according to the above, may be used to authenticate a second device (215).
L'invention concerne le domaine de la prévention des fraudes. L'invention concerne un particulier et une méthode d'authentification de dispositif destinée à un utilisateur. Cette méthode permet d'authentifier un dispositif personnel (210) comprenant une séquence de formatage (305-310) dans laquelle au moins un premier format de sortie préféré est sélectionné par l'utilisateur, et une séquence de vérification de configuration de dispositif (315-355). Dans la séquence de vérification de configuration de dispositif de l'invention, une somme de vérification est calculée et convertie dans un format de sortie convivial, en fonction du format de sortie préféré sélectionné par l'utilisateur. En outre, la somme de vérification peut être calculée en fonction de données d'entrée variables sélectionnables par l'utilisateur. Le dispositif personnel (210), une fois authentifié selon la méthode de l'invention, peut être utilisé pour authentifier un second dispositif (215).
