The invention relates to a method of separating materials of two different phases from each other and an assembly for implementing the method. According to one embodiment of the invention, the second phase having material in suspended or dispersed form is passed into a separating means (2-5, 6-9), wherein the suspended/dispersed phase is separated from said first phase under the effect of a centrifugal force. Herein, at least one of said separating means (2-5, 6-9) comprises a multiport cyclone into which the material flow to be treated is passed via an infeed nozzle (2, 6) having an annular cross section. The use of a multiport cyclone, e.g., in an FCC process gives substantial benefits in term of flow dynamics and process control as compared to conventional and standard single-ports cyclones.

L'invention concerne un procédé qui permet de séparer l'un de l'autre deux matériaux de phase différente, ainsi qu'un dispositif permettant de mettre en oeuvre ledit procédé. Dans l'un des modes de réalisation, on fait passer la seconde phase, contenant le matériau en suspension ou en dispersion, dans des moyens de séparation (2-5, 6-9) où la phase en suspension/dispersion est séparée de ladite première phase sous l'effet d'une force centrifuge. Au moins un des moyens de séparation (2-5, 6-9) comprend un cyclone multivoie dans lequel le matériau à traiter pénètre par une buse d'alimentation (2, 6) de section annulaire. L'utilisation d'un cyclone multivoie, par exemple dans un procédé de craquage catalytique fluide, procure des avantages notables en termes de dynamique d'écoulement et de commande des processus par rapport aux cyclones monovoie classiques et standard.
