A method (82, 162), and associated apparatus (10), for the selective transmission of packet data to a mobile terminal (14) operable in a radio communication system (10). When packet data is to be terminated at the mobile terminal (14), an SMS (short message service) message is first transmitted (168) to the mobile terminal (14) (104, 112, 114). A determination is made at the mobile terminal (14) whether to permit transmission of packet data thereto (124, 174). The packet data is transmitted (176) to the mobile terminal (14) if permission is granted by the mobile terminal (14).
L'invention se rapporte à un procédé (82, 162), et à un appareil associé (10), permettant la transmission sélective de paquets de données à un terminal mobile (14) fonctionnant dans un système (10) de communication radio. Lorsqu'un paquet de données est destiné au terminal mobile (14), un message du service de messages courts (SMS short message service) est tout d'abord émis (168) à destination du terminal mobile (14) (104, 112, 114). Une évaluation est alors effectuée au niveau du terminal mobile (14) afin de permettre ou non (124, 174) la transmission du paquet de données vers le terminal mobile.
