The present invention is directed to an ophthalmic solution for soft contact lenses for controlled release of polyethers into an eye's tear film. Polyether components of the subject solution are released from the soft contact lens material matrix over long time periods to produce longer lasting wetting performance, improved lubricity, improved end-of-the-day comfort and reduced feeling of dryness from wearing contact lenses. The present invention also includes the use of cationic polyelectrolytes for controlling the swelling of hydrogel contact lenses typically caused by the absorption of high concentrations of polyethers.
L'invention concerne une solution ophtalmique conçue pour des lentilles de contact souples, servant à la libération contrôlée de polyéthers dans le film lacrymal de l'oeil. Les composants polyéthers de la solution selon l'invention sont libérés de la matrice matérielle de la lentille de contact souple sur des périodes temporelles longues pour accroître les performances d'humidification dans le temps, améliorer le pouvoir lubrifiant, améliorer le confort en fin de journée et réduire la sensation de sécheresse liée au port de lentilles de contact. Cette invention se rapporte en outre à l'utilisation de polyélectrolytes cationiques pour réguler le gonflement des lentilles de contact en hydrogel qui est généralement lié à l'absorption de concentrations élevées de polyéthers.
