The present invention relates to a method of treating hyperlipidemia and to reducing triacylglycerols, glycerol and cholesterol in a patient. The method includes the step of administering a therapeutically effective amount of a type-5 selective somatostatin agonist to said patient. A pharmaceutical composition comprises said agonist and such product is used in the preparation of the composition for use in treating hyperlipidemia or reducing triacylglycerols, glycerol and cholesterol in a patient's body.

Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé pour traiter l'hyperlipidémie et pour réduire la concentration de triacylglycérols, de glycérol et de cholestérol dans le corps d'un patient. Ce procédé consiste à administrer au patient une quantité thérapeutiquement efficace d'un agoniste de somatostatine sélectif de type 5. Une composition pharmaceutique comprenant cet agoniste et ce produit est utilisée dans la préparation de la composition servant à traiter l'hyperlipidémie ou à réduire la concentration de triacylglycérols, de glycérol et de cholestérol dans le corps d'un patient.
