Devices and methods are provided for intensifying sensorial perception of visual and/or acoustic representations, in particular in cinemas, theatres, concert and conference halls, as well as during slide or video shows, television and radio broadcasts, and the like. One such device includes a storing arrangement for individually storing and releasing or diffusing various scents or perfumes. An associated arrangement is provided for controlling the diffusion and supply of determined scents or perfumes according to determined visual and/or acoustic events. A discharge arrangement is provided to discharge scent/air mixture at a rate of less than one litre of emitted scent per second. The storage arrangement includes several different scents or perfume reservoirs that may be selectively made available by means of a scent or perfume supply selector arrangement. The device may also include a supply arrangement to supply the scents in the form of a scent- enriched scent/air mixture stream which is enriched with an ingredient of sufficiently low specific gravity so that the emerging scent/air mixture is lighter than the ambient air.
