Method and device for aligning a drill aggregate (1) in a tunnel (2) relative to a predetermined plane transverse to the tunnel. The wall of the tunnel is surface lighted by lamps (9) in the areas of marks (5), e.g. in form of lines painted on the tunnel wall. An optical system (6) on the drill aggregate senses the marks and generates electric signals which are fed to a presentation unit (7). Then a carrier (3) and/or a drill unit (4) forming part of the drill aggregate (1) are moved until the presentation unit (7) shows that the drill unit is in the desired position.
