The invention concerns a method and device for applying a lubricant-carrier layer to the surface of a material which is to be cold-formed, in particular wire material (1) which is subsequently to be cold-drawn, the carrier layer being such that a lubricant can be applied over it. The material used to produce the layer is applied dry. A container (18) is provided to hold a multiplicity of loose pressure-application elements (52) plus a given quantity of the dry carrier-layer material (54). To produce the lubricant-carrier layer on the wire material (1), at least part of which is located at any given time inside the container (18), the pressure-application elements (52) surrounding the wire material are caused to execute a motion such that they apply the carrier-layer material (54) disposed between them to the surface of the wire material (1) mechanically, the pressure-application elements (52) making uniform contact with the surface of the wire material (1) as they move relative to the surface.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif permettant d'appliquer une couche porteuse de lubrifiant sur la surface d'un matériau devant subir une mise en forme à froid, en particulier un matériau (1) en forme de fil qui doit être soumis à un étirage à froid, ladite couche porteuse étant telle qu'elle puisse être recouverte d'un lubrifiant. Le matériau utilisé pour produire ladite couche est appliqué à l'état sec. Une enceinte (18) est conçue pour contenir une multiplicité d'éléments de pression (52) en vrac, ainsi qu'une quantité donnée du matériau sec (54) servant à constituer la couche porteuse. Pour produire ladite couche porteuse sur le matériau (1) sous forme de fil, matériau dont au moins une partie se trouve à un moment donné à l'intérieur de l'enceinte (18), on fait exécuter aux éléments de pression (52) qui entourent le matériau sous forme de fil un mouvement tel qu'ils appliquent mécaniquement, sur la surface dudit matériau (1) en forme de fil, le matériau (54) constituant la couche porteuse, lequel se trouve entre ces éléments de pression (52) qui créent un contact uniforme avec la surface du matériau (1) en forme de fil lorsqu'ils se déplacent par rapport à cette surface.
