A capping device and method for installing overcaps onto a plurality of aerosol cans moving on a manufacturing line is disclosed. The capping device (40) has a pressure plate (42) with a cap contact surface (82) on one side and a bearing surface (80) on an opposite side. The contact surface is oriented to face overcaps (48) that are rested on a plurality of aerosol cans (44) moving past the pressure plate (42) on the manufacturing line. The contact surface is rotated about an axis so that an installation segment of the contact surface moves in concert with the plurality of aerosol cans. A pressure wheel (46) has a rotatable circumferential surface (90) arranged to bear against a part of the pressure plate (42) to further bear the installation segment into contact with the overcaps (48) of the plurality of aerosol cans. As the cans move past the pressure wheel and plate, the overcaps are installed on the aerosol cans by force applied via the installation segment of the contact surface that is moving along with the cans.

L'invention porte sur procédé et un dispositif permettant de fixer des capuchons sur une pluralité de bombes aérosols qui avancent le long d'une chaîne de fabrication. Ledit dispositif (40) est équipé d'une plaque de pression (42) avec une surface de contact de capuchon (82) sur un côté et une surface porteuse (80) sur un côté opposé. La surface de contact est orientée de manière à faire face aux capuchons (48), lesquels sont mis sur plusieurs bombes aérosols (44) après avoir passé la plaque de pression (42) sur la chaîne de fabrication. La surface de contact tourne autour de l'axe de manière à ce qu'un segment d'installation de la surface de contact bouge de manière synchronisée avec la pluralité des bombes aérosols. Une roue de pression (46) comporte une surface en circonférence rotative (90) conçue pour reposer contre une partie de la plaque de pression (42) et pour mettre le segment d'installation en contact avec les capuchons (48) desdites bombes aérosols. Lorsque les bombes passent devant la roue et la plaque de pression, le segment d'installation de la surface de contact qui se déplace le long des bombes exerce une force qui permet de fixer les capuchons sur les bombes aérosols.
