The invention concerns a device for assessing the surface condition of a material and the method using same, based on the use of an element vibrating under the effect of a relative movement with respect to the surface to be characterised. Said method enables to analyse any surface with or without surface condition periodicity, whatever its constituting elements, its composition and as the case may be its surface treatment(s). The assessing device (1) comprises a support (2) whereon is mounted at least a vibrating element (3) capable of starting to vibrate when contacted with the said material surface (5), said vibrating element (3) being driven by a relative movement with respect to said material surface (5). The assessing device (1) further comprises means for measuring (4) natural vibratory modes of the vibrating element (3) designed to deliver a signal corresponding to said natural vibratory modes, a device for processing and analysing (6) said signal designed to cause to correspond to said signal one or several data characterising a surface condition, and an interface (7) designed to display said information or data. The invention is useful for any process requiring characterisation of a surface condition.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif d'évaluation de l'état de surface d'un matériau et son procédé de mise en oeuvre, fondés sur l'utilisation d'un élément vibrant sous l'effet d'un mouvement relatif par rapport à la surface à caractériser. Ceci permet l'analyse de toute surface présentant ou non une périodicité d'état de surface, quelle que soit sa constitution, sa composition et le cas échéant son ou ses traitements de surface. Le dispositif d'évaluation (1) comprend un support (2) sur lequel est monté au moins un élément vibrant (3) susceptible d'entrer en vibration lors d'un contact avec la surface dudit matériau (5), ledit élément vibrant (3) étant animé d'un mouvement relatif par rapport à ladite surface du matériau (5). Le dispositif d'évaluation (1) comprend également des moyens de mesure (4) des modes propres de vibration de l'élément vibrant (3) agencés pour fournir un signal correspondant aux-dits modes propres de vibration, un dispositif de traitement et d'analyse (6) dudit signal agencé pour faire correspondre audit signal une ou plusieurs données caractérisant un état de surface, et une interface (7) agencée pour indiquer la ou lesdites données. Application: Toute application nécessitant la caractérisation d'un état de surface.
