Selon l'invention, on prévoit aux bornes du contact de courant principal un cir- cuit à résistance et enroulement d'excitation d'un relais per- mettant, lorsque la torche s'est approchée à la distance correc- te de la pièce, de détecter cet écartement correct et d'agir sur le moteur d'avance pour l'arrêter immédiatement. Application au coupage plasma par voie automatique. Facilité de choisir l'écartement torche-pièce.
