The invention concerns a method and a device for detecting anode effects in an electrolytic cell for aluminium production by electrolytic fused salt process, which consists in measuring at least a first electric voltage signal U1 and a second electric voltage signal U2 at two different locations of said cell, and in determining the value of at least an anode effect anticipated indicator A based on the comparison of the two signals U1 and U2. The invention enables simple, reliable and early detection of anode effects.
