Method for detecting, in a load (2), the presence of objects suspected of containing at least one material having a given atomic weight, in which the load (2) is exposed to at least a first X-ray beam having a first spectrum and an atomic number class to which the materials, comprising the load through which the X-rays pass, is determined by high-energy discrimination. Furthermore, at least one g-ray or neutron beam spontaneously emitted by the load is measured, a spontaneous g and/or neutron radiation emission class of the material comprising the load is determined from the spontaneous radiation measurement, and a class of interest of the material of the load is determined from the atomic number class and the spontaneous radiation class that were determined.
Procédé pour détecter dans une charge (2) la présence d'objets suspects renfermant au moins un matériau à poids atomique donné, selon lequel on soumet la charge (2) à au moins un premier rayonnement X ayant un premier spectre et on détermine une classe de numéro atomique à laquelle appartiennent les matériaux dont est constituée la charge traversée par les rayonnements X par discrimination haute énergie. En outre, on mesure au moins un rayonnement y ou neutronique émis spontanément par la charge, on détermine une classe d'émission de rayonnement spontané y et/ou neutronique du matériau dont est constitué la charge à partir de la mesure de rayonnement spontané et on détermine une classe d'intérêt du matériau de la charge à partir de la classe de numéro atomique et de la classe de rayonnement spontané déterminées.
