The invention relates to a method for determining especially the alcohol concentration in an alcohol/water mixture of fuel cells operated with said mixture, especially of direct methanol fuel cells. According to the inventive method, the alcohol/water mixture is transported through a heating section at a constant flow rate. A known quantity of heat is added to the mixture, the temperature difference between the start and the end of the heating section is measured and the alcohol concentration is determined on the basis of the result of said measurement.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de déterminer en particulier la concentration en alcool d'un mélange à base d'alcool et d'eau de cellules électrochimiques actionnées au moyen dudit mélange. Selon ce procédé, le mélange alcool/eau est acheminé à vitesse d'écoulement constante à travers une section de chauffage. Un volume connu de chaleur est apporté audit mélange. La différence de températures entre le début et la fin de la section de chauffage est mesurée et le résultat sert à déterminer la concentration en alcool.
